Hotel Reservations
How do I make a hotel reservation?
You have 2 choices:
1. You will find savings on thousands of hotels in the Hotel Directory which you will receive with your card. You simply call the number listed below each hotel and identify yourself as an Encore member.
2. Book online at this website by selecting Hotel Search and choose from many hotels in major european cities. We will be adding more cities as and when we can to give Encore members the best possible choice for European destinations. Don't forget that the prices shown are without your Encore discount which can only be given on a request basis.
Why can't I book the 50% hotels online?
We are working with our hotel partners to enable you to book online in the future. Right now the discount is only available by calling the hotel directly using the number listed.
Can I walk into an Encore hotel without a reservation and get the discount?
Not usually. If a hotel has a lot of available rooms, they may honor your Preferred Traveller discount. However, if you don't have a reservation, and particularly if they are nearly full, they do not have to. Always call in advance for your Preferred Traveller reservation to guarantee a room and a rate.
Why do I get quoted one rate when I call a Preferred Traveller hotel and then when I tell them I'm a Preferred Traveller member, I'm quoted a different price? What if it is higher?
It is very important to tell the hotel reservationist that you are a Preferred Traveller member first before you specify your dates of stay. Often what happens is the hotel may have a special package or promotion that is lower than their normal rates and the reservationist will automatically offer you that special. The Preferred Traveller discount is off the regular rate, not promotional rates. The Preferred Traveller rate is still usually a better rate than any other discount or promotional rate.
Can I use the toll-free reservation number for any chain hotel listed?
50% hotelsno, unless an 800 number appears in the individual hotel listing since the room availability is controlled by the individual property and not the central reservation centers. Often the central reservation centers don't know which of their properties participate in the Preferred Traveller program.
What if there is no Preferred Traveller hotel in my select destination?
Have Hotel-Availability call you through their freecall system and they will attempt to find you a room in your chosen location at a reduced rate. This may not be at a Preferred Traveller hotel but it will be a three star or above and the price you are quoted will be reduced by Hotel Availability on a case by case basis.
How many rooms can I get at the 50% discount?
The Preferred Traveller discount applies to two persons sharing the same room. Additional persons may be required to pay an extra person charge. If you need two hotel rooms, it is up to the hotel, based on their occupancy, to decide whether they can discount multiple rooms or offer the discount for multiple nights.
When a hotel states that the discount is available until it projects an 80% occupancy, what does that mean?
In the travel industry, full occupancy is normally reached when a hotel projects 80% of its rooms will be occupied on a given night. Preferred Traveller contracts with hotels individually to provide rooms at a 50% discount until the hotel projects that it will reach that 80% occupancy level. When a hotel reaches this level, it typically can sell the remainder of its room inventory at regular or "rack" rates and will usually not discount them.
What is the Preferred Traveller discount based on?
The discount is based on the hotel's regular published ("rack") rates, not group, convention, weekend special/package or already discounted rates.
What if all the hotel rooms are sold out when I want to travel?
Preferred Traveller "City Extras" which not only provides discounts, but in the event that a city is "sold out" we may have rooms available. (During sold out dates these rooms may not be discounted).

How do I book a rental car?
To get your Preferred Traveller discounts, you can book online by selecting your desired rental car companyAlamo, Avis, Hertz, and National.To receive your Preferred Traveller discount rate, call the 800# listed and access your member discount using your member ID number.
Will I be able to save on a car rental every time I book?
Absolutely, enjoy member only rates every time you rent a car. Plus receive additional money saving coupons throughout the year.
Dining
How do I access the Preferred Traveller dining discount?
Simply present your Preferred Traveller card before you order at a participating restaurant. When you ask for the check, the applicable discount should be deducted from your bill automatically.
Is there a limit to the number of people who can receive the discount?
Your discount is available only to you and your dining companions sharing the same bill. Large parties of up to 10 persons requiring more than one table are entitled to the discount as long as they are sharing one check.

How often can I use the Preferred Traveller Card?
Use it as often as you want and enjoy great savings on all your travel needs. These discounts apply to anyone traveling with you.
I don't plan on traveling much this year. Are there other benefits I can use?
You don't need to travel much to save a lot. Escape for the weekend with an exclusive member-only package, upgrade to that suite you've dreamed of with the money you've saved. And you can always take in a meal and a movie and save some money.

What is an e-ticket?
An e-ticket or electronic ticket allows you to travel without a paper ticket and is offered by most of the major airlines.
